Brian Eno Urges Support to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The track blends a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
