Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
